How the Rural Health Transformation Program Works
Funds flow to states. After CMS approves a state’s plan, that state opens sub-awards for rural hospitals and providers. Imaging infrastructure (MRI, PET/CT, CT) can be eligible when aligned to approved objectives (access, quality, sustainability).
State Application
Includes goals, solvency strategies, stakeholder input, allowed uses, measurement plan, and Governor designation.
Hospital Role
Engage early: supply data on volumes, gaps, workforce; participate in stakeholder processes and public comments.
Awards & Oversight
After approval, states announce sub-awards. Expect reporting, compliance, and outcomes tracking.

Imaging Under RHTP: What We Scope
MRI
1.5T/3T selection, siting, RF shielding, power/HVAC, coil mix, scheduling throughput, uptime SLAs.
CT
Detector rows, cardiac capability, dose management, injector integration, ER workflow, service coverage.
PET/CT
Oncology focus, radiopharmacy logistics, motion correction, accreditation, staffing & training plans.
